Spreading Some Christmas Cheer...

Well, we are officially 18 days away from Christmas. Crazy. How in the world it came this fast, I have no idea. I guess I could be thinking of all of the things I need to get done or all of the presents I have yet to buy but, nah, I'd rather look at this fabric. I'm kind of in love with it. To me, it's the perfect velvety, vintage Christmas/winter print for a handbag.
The inside of this handbag has a beautiful, complimentary sagey green fabric with 3 pockets to organize your phone, keys, etc. Magnetic snaps hold the bag closed and the slightly longer length leather straps can be held as a traditional handbag or up on your shoulder, if you so choose.
Comment or email if you're interested. This handbag is already sold but I have enough fabric to make about 2 more. ;)

A Little Late But Worth the Wait

Okay, I know I said that I'd have another bag out by the end of the weekend, but I'm a little late. Hopefully you find this bag worth the wait! I was actually tempted to keep this one for myself. Okay, I wanted to keep the last one for myself, too (which is being auctioned tomorrow night, by the way).

This is vintage deliciousness. It's slightly smaller then the last- about 15 inches wide and 10 inches deep.  It has one strap on which is about 24 inches.... It's on the shorter side so the purse doesn't hang down too much. Very cute look. The inside has 3 pockets for your keys, phone, etc. and magnetic snaps to keep things from spilling out.
The strap is a one-of-a-kind, vintage strap...no duplicating on this one. When it's gone, it's gone! And I would hurry before I decide to keep it for myself. Haha!
$79... first come, first serve. Comment or email me at chezvintagehandbags@gmail.com.

And the horse that was very curious about what in the world I was doing...

Operation Christmas Child

The thought of Christmas shopping literally puts my stomach in knots. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love Christmas and I love buying people gifts, but the organization of it all makes me feel completely stressed out.

Enter Operation Christmas Child. Making these shoe boxes brings complete joy to my whole family. My kids will actually bring up at various times of the year that they can't wait to make the shoe boxes again. They always pick kids that are their age to buy for and then, very thoughtfully, buy things for the boxes that they would enjoy themselves. It's usually a very long process that ends with them stuffing everything into the box while the lid pops right back off because it's too full. After this is repeated a few more times, they finally realize that they'll have to pick something to take out just to get it to stay closed.

We know how to do Christmas at my house. We decorate, we bake, we eat (way too much), we buy wonderful presents...but packing these boxes is the highlight of our Christmas season.

On that note, I will donate all proceeds from all bags that are purchased now through November 18 to making extra boxes (that's the last drop off date around here).

And check back because I will be posting a new bag by the end of the weekend!

Oh, and if you aren't familiar with Operation Christmas Child, here's a short video:

Nelumbo Hair Design's Kick Start

                  *Blue and Brown Floral Handbag*
                                         $79

This velvety floral print is one of my favorite vintage fabrics that I have right now and it really makes a gorgeous handbag. The handbag is approximately 16 1/2 inches wide and about 11 inches deep, with magnetic snaps and two pockets inside. The handles are leather, stained with eco-friendly dye (we've gotta do everything we can, right?!). The handbag straps are about 21 inches long, giving you the option of also putting it on your shoulder... because sometimes you just need free hands. :)

If you are in the Idaho Falls area on November 7, check out Nelumbo Hair Design's Kick Start party at D'railed. This handbag will be auctioned in the silent auction! Raffle tickets are also being sold for $5 and there are a bunch of REALLY GOOD prizes (Prizes include credit at fabulous local spots such as: The Cellar, Indigo Natural Healing and Massage, Brady's and D'railed. Food, drinks, massages, hair cuts and much more are also up for grabs). And if you buy 10 or more tickets you'll get that back in haircuts and styles from Stephanie. And this girl is good. She's the only one I've found since I moved here from South O.C. that can cut like my beloved stylist Lanette in Huntington Beach.  Anyway, the party starts at 6 and raffle tickets are being sold at Eternite Salon and D'railed.

If you aren't in the Idaho Falls area, however, I do have a little more of this fabric. Maybe enough for 2 more handbags. If you are interested, you can comment or email me at chezvintagehandbags@gmail.com.

They're A Comin'!

Oh, yes they are. These vintage fabrics are a comin' to you in handbag form. They're cut and ready, just waiting for some sewing, straps and clasps. Just thought I'd give you a sneak preview of these lovely velvets. And stay tuned because the first handbag is a raffle give away for a certain awesome hair stylist, looking to start her own salon. It just happens to be one of my very favorite fabrics. ;)
